Winward/HTP Motorsport sign Christian Hohenadel in three race deal

Winward/HTP Motorsport today announced the signing of German GT veteran Christian Hohenadel. The 41 year-old from Dudweiler will partner with Winward Team Owner, Bryce Ward in the #57 Sonic Tools AMG GT4 for three of the final four races of the 2018 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. The experienced GT racer from South Western Germany, will compete at Road America this week, as well as the races at Virginia International Raceway and Laguna Seca.

The HTP Motorsport regular tested with the Houston-based team in private at VIR in June and the experience proved to be both a significant help and an enjoyable two days. “The VIR test was helpful with regards to learning the track but it was also really valuable as I now have some experience of the Continental race tire”, Hohenadel explained. “The AMG GT4 is familiar to me as I was involved with the development of the chassis last year. Having worked with the Winward/HTP Motorsport team prior to this weekend is also really helpful as I can go to Road America with a much better understanding of how the team operates and how they like to do things.” He has also become a keen follower of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge itself. “I have been watching the Conti Series this season to get a better understanding of the racing, how the Championship works and to get the measure of the drivers I will be up against.”

The 2010 FIA European GT3 Champion also has no illusions about his role with then team over the coming trio of events. “I will do some simulator work at HTP and on the PlayStation to get as acclimatised as possible with the tracks. But I’m not here to replace anyone, I’m just here to do the best job I can in place of Indy, who has been fantastic in the Conti Series this year, his last race was pretty special and the bar is very high.”

“I am delighted to be driving with Christian,” enthused Team Owner, Bryce Ward. “It was really helpful to have him join us for our two-day test at VIR in June and I think that will really help us get get up speed quickly at Road America,” he continued. “I’m looking forward to building on our momentum from Lime Rock Park and to what should be a fantastic race this weekend.”

Winward/HTP Motorsport will compete in Round 7 of the 2018 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, the Road America 120, on Saturday, August 4th. The Green Flag drops at 5:05pm ESTand can you get session-by-session updates from the Official Winward Racing Twitter and Instagram accounts at and
